Hi all! As you may or may not know, Finals are happening at college campuses all over the country. That means lots of late nights, library time, paper writing, and cramming your ass off because you slacked the whole semester. Welcome to the most stressful time of the year. It also doesn’t help that it might be staying nice out now, but you’re stuck inside studying. It’s a real dilemma. I will be gone all next week from the web taking my finals, but I’m going to leave you this study playlist to help you make it through to summer. Keep in mind you want to listen to songs that keep you awake and energized. Here we go!
Rock And Roll- Led Zeppelin
Nobody ponds the drums and keeps a crazy beat quite like John Bonham in this song. I promise this song will wake you up. For an added bonus you could also listen to Heart’s cover of the song. Ann Wilson goes pretty hard on it. It’s pretty awesome.
Armageddon It- Def Leppard
Oh good ‘ol Def Lep with their clever plays on words. This song just makes me laugh, as most Def Leppard songs do.
Will You Love Me Tomorrow- Carol King
Ok, you’re probably thinking “a Carol King song?” Bear with me, this song creeps the living hell out of me. I’m a “Tapestry” fan, but have you ever listened to “Tapestry Revisited?” It’s and album of other people singing Carol King songs. It’s terrifying. This song especially because it was covered on the album by the Bee Gees (blah. They scare me so much!). So, if you listen to this Bee Gees’ cover it should keep you awake and alert… because you won’t be able to fall asleep because it’s so creepy…
Shooting Star- Bad Company
Bad Company are such dorks (my mom loves them), but I kind of like this song. It’s one of those songs that you have to sing along to no matter how much you fight it. Then dang Johnny goes and dies on us. Jerk.
Sweet Emotion- Aerosmith
Whenever I listen to this song I feel like I should get up and go take over the world. Or maybe my finals for right now.
Let It Rock- Bon Jovi
Off of “Slippery When Wet,” it is a song that probably only myself and middle-age women know. That’s why I’m sharing my vast Bon Jovi knowledge with all of you. It’s a super loud, in-your-face ranting type of song. But it’s Bon Jovi, so it’s in a happy hair metal type of rant.
Sparks- The Who
Probably one of my favorite Who songs. Yes, there are exactly zero words sung in the song, but it sounds so cool and energized that I never notice. That’s why it’s the perfect study song. Plus, if you play it while you light a candle you’ll see your whole future (“Almost Famous” reference for the win).
Honky Tonk Women- Rolling Stones
Is it weird that this is one of my favorite Stones’ songs? It is. I know it is. But, it’s just too funny.
Don’t You (Forget About Me)- Simple Minds
One of my favorite songs of all time. It’s probably on my favorites list because I just picture John Bender thrusting his fist into the air on the football field. I mean, it is the greatest movie of all time (besides “Almost Famous” of course). It will also help your studying thinking about the kids wasting a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it is they did wrong (I’ve seen this movie too many times) and knowing that after your dreadful finals you will be done with school for three months.
No Church in the Wild- Kanye West & JAY-Z
In honor of “The Great Gatsby” finally coming out (because apparently Kanye was the jam of 1922). I actually listen to a lot of rap (Shocker I know. Most of the time it’s because my brother makes me, though.) and as much as I can’t stand Kanye as, well himself, I do like his music. And I love him and JAY together. They have an adorable little friendship. This song makes me feel instantly cooler whenever I listen to it. It could make for a good motivator while you’re studying your little heart out.
That’s it! Happy studying all! I’ll be back in a week and a half-ish!
